Identification of pathognomonic purine synthesis biomarkers by metabolomic profiling of adolescents with obesity and type 2 diabetes

چکیده
In brief: Metabolite signatures were compared between children with normal weight, obesity, and both obesity T2DM, by measuring 273 analytes in fasting plasma a 24-hour urine sample. Twenty-two metabolites uniquely associated T2DM. Adolescents T2DM have altered purine nucleotide metabolism, betaine oxidative branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) their catabolites.

Comprehensive metabolomic profiling of type 2 diabetes.
It is estimated that at least 29.1 million Americans, or 9.3% of the US population, currently have diabetes (1 ), a disease characterized by impaired insulin action and/or production. Although type 2 diabetes (T2D), which accounts for 90% of diagnosed diabetes, is largely predictable through anthropometric, lifestyle, and clinical factors, and is preventable through diet and lifestyle modificat...
متن کاملSerum Circulating microRNA Profiling for Identification of Potential Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity Biomarkers
BACKGROUND AND AIM MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that play important regulatory roles in a variety of biological processes, including complex metabolic processes, such as energy and lipid metabolism, which have been studied in the context of diabetes and obesity. Some particular microRNAs have recently been demonstrated to abundantly and stably exist in serum and to be potentially disease...
متن کاملIdentification of Biomarkers for Type 2 Diabetes Yuvaraj Mahendran Identification of Biomarkers for Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex disorder characterized by insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction. The incidence and prevalence of T2D have doubled in recent decades, this phenomenon being attributable to obesity, sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet. Both genetic and environmental factors are major determinants of this disease. Genome-wide association studies have identified ...
متن کاملInvestigating the Molecular miRNAs as Biomarkers of Type 2 Diabetes
Introduction: Biomarkers would significantly improve the early detection of the disease and identification of individuals at risk of emerging complications. Diabetes mellitus is a group of diverse and complex metabolic disorders. Both type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) mellitus are associated with distinct alterations in the profile of MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in the blood, which are som...
متن کاملMetabolomic Profiling of Fatty Acid and Amino Acid Metabolism in Youth With Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes
OBJECTIVE We compared acylcarnitine (AcylCN) species, common amino acid and fat oxidation (FOX) byproducts, and plasma amino acids in normal weight (NW; n = 39), obese (OB; n = 64), and type 2 diabetic (n = 17) adolescents. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Fasting plasma was analyzed by tandem mass spectrometry, body composition by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and computed tomography, and tota...
